Utvecklingspedagogik Sverige AB is the name of our company which is an independent
company with private ownership. Our activities can be divided into two areas: Special Needs Education and Care. The latter under the concept of LSS, which stands for the Act on Support and Service for Certain Disabled People.

The education takes place in two schools with permission from Skolinspektionen (former “Skolverket”, The Swedish National Agency for Education): Svedenskolan and Häggviks Gymnasium. There is no tuition fee since the Swedish school system allows for independent for-profit schools to provide tax funded education as long as the education follows the national curriculum and fulfill national quality requirements as defined by government.

The schools are open for students aged 6 to 16, respectively 16 to 21, all in need of special needs education. The primary/secondary school, Svedenskolan, enrolls younger students with an autism spectrum disorder and Asperger syndrome. The upper secondary school, Häggviks Gymnasium, enrolls students with any type of learning disability who also could have additional functional disabilities. The four years of upper secondary school are an important preparation for adult life.

The care operations within our units covering LSS concern the extracurricular activities and comprise the following: Short time care (at our schools once school day is over), Boarding school with training in independent living, A work-focused daily activity for young adults as well as Weekend / summer camp in rural setting.

Our vision is to provide increased quality of life and a greater participation in society for our students and users by focusing on continuous progress. Progress, i.e. reaching results and continuously improve, is so important to us that the word is part of the company name. “Utvecklingspedagogik” means pedagogy in progress.
